The climate in Cali is warm and dry, with average temperatures of 30ºC during the day.

Main Points of Interest

  • Cali Zoo Park: Considered one of the top three in Latin America, the zoo houses over two thousand animals in its eleven hectares. It is located next to the Cali River, right where the mountains and valley meet. Nearby is the Cali Botanical Garden, founded by Jorge Enrique Orejuela.
  • Calima Gold Museum: It is an archaeological museum dedicated to the Calima culture located in the historic center of Santiago de Cali, where there are over 615 gold pieces.
  • San Joaquín Avenue: Located in the south of the city in the Ciudad Jardín neighborhood, it is an exclusive area in the city for dining or shopping.
  • Carrera 66: It is located in the south of the city and in recent years has become a new nightlife area with several restaurants, bars, and clubs.
  • Dog's Park (also known as Love Park): located in the San Fernando neighborhood, it is situated in one of the most popular areas of the city, with several restaurants and bars. It is a party and restaurant hotspot. The park gets its name because it contains a sculpture of a dog
  • River's Cat: It is located next to the Cali River in the west. It is named in honor of the sculptor Tejada, originally from Cali.
  • Cali River: It is one of the most peaceful areas of the city, located by the river in the west and surrounded by restaurants, hotels, and museums such as 'La Tertulia,' an art museum.
  • San Antonio: It is the oldest neighborhood in Cali. Despite being divided by Quinta Street, it still retains its traditional aura. The entire neighborhood is on a hill, and at the top is San Antonio Park. In the area, you can also find some restaurants. Nearby is the Loma de la Cruz Craft Park, where there is a wide variety of regional handicrafts.
  • El Peñón: It is currently one of the pink zones for eating out, shopping, or dancing.

  • Menga: Located in the north of Santiago de Cali, it is one of the most representative places for nightlife in the city, where you can find all rhythms at the same time. It is also a platform to see the best artists in action, with very comfortable facilities, a club atmosphere, the latest sound technology, and robotic lights—a great place for crossover partying.
  • Juanchito: It's a place with a large number of salsa clubs, located near some of the poorest areas of the city. Politically, it belongs to the municipality of Candelaria. It's said that if Cali is the capital of salsa, Juanchito is the temple that adores its cult. To get there, Cali residents have to cross a bridge over the Cauca River mentioned in the song by Grupo Niche "Del puente para allá."
  • Kilómetro 18, Vía al Mar: Located on the outskirts of Cali along the road to Buenaventura, it is a mountainous region at approximately 2500 meters above sea level with a predominance of temperate climate, where you can find restaurants offering local cuisine, rest houses, and recreational facilities.
  • Farallones de Cali: The Farallones de Cali is a national park. In recent years, it has experienced a surge as a tourist destination attracting a wide range of people: adventurers interested in climbing, hiking, paragliding, naturalists, and those seeking relaxation in a temperate climate.
  • Cristo Rey: The statue of Christ the King is a religious monument located on Cerro Los Cristales, offering the best view of the city. The statue is 31 meters tall, with 5 meters belonging to the base. Along the road to the monument, you can find various Italian pizza restaurants with views of the city.
  • Cerro de las Tres Cruces: It has its own legend and history. In recent decades, it has become a meeting point for athletes who climb up and down the hill. During Holy Week, Catholic pilgrims from both Cali and abroad ascend to fulfill their vows.
  • Sebastián de Belalcázar Monument: It is the most visited and popular monument in the city, located on the hills overlooking the city to the west. The monument is famous for its pointing finger, which points in the opposite direction of the valley, while its face looks down upon the city.

PEREIRA

The climate in Pereira varies as follows: warm climate, 9.9%; temperate climate, 60.7%; cold climate, 11.5%; high-altitude páramo, 17.7%. Its average annual precipitation is 2750 mm.

  • Theme Park Ukumarí, Otún Lagoon, and the Santa Isabel Snowcapped Mountain, all located within the municipality, offer settings for activities ranging from adventure sports to ecotourism.
  • Pereira is also known for its nightlife, thanks to its bars and nightclubs.

  • Harvest Festivals: The month of August; the activities scheduled are purely cultural (concerts, festivals, gastronomic events, art exhibitions, parades, festivities, among others) and have an extensive calendar, usually from the first days of the month until August 30, the city's anniversary day, when it is routine to hold a Te Deum at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Poverty, homage to The Founders, at the sculpture of the same name located on Circunvalar Avenue, along with complementary activities.
